I agree that this would be a nice feature.
Upon clicking the permalink, if the user is not logged in, Pootle should
automatically take the user to the login page and then, upon successful
login, to the string.
I don't have any time for such a feature at the moment, since Pootle
still needs polish and stabilizing. But I'm definitely open to patches.
Also, could you put the request into Bugzilla Asheesh?

I agree. At present, the best way to get that URL is to move to the
next or previous segment, then click the relevant segment itself (to
give it focus, may not be necessary, depending on your browser), and
then right-click the "Edit" link that pops up on the right-hand side.
