I'm sure Clytie meant this to go to the Pootle list.

Not as far as I know. As I said, for Vietnamese, the affected files are:

Server Project File

locamotion VLC interface_GUI.po
locamotion TuxPaint tuxpaint-stamps.po
locamotion SpeedCrunch speedcrunch.org.po

Sympa Sympa sympa.po (the sole file)

Frugalware GFPM gfpm.po

OLPC Honey TamTamEdit.po & TamTamMini.po

Damage: in PO format, these otherwise complete and correct
translations show many missing strings, in some cases missing a lot of
the msgid entries as well.

I don't know why the above files are damaged in PO format while others
are not: the main thing they have in common is that I have translated/
updated them in the last few days.

I've also noticed that now, when I download new PO files from Pootle
to initialize them from my compendium, some of them have no visible
line-breaks. The whole file is one messy mass of text. See OpenProj/
client.po. When I downloaded the XLIFF version of that file, then
converted it to PO format, I still got an undelimited mass of text.

With that file, even after manually reformatting it, I still can't
initialize it, because msgfmt keeps complaining that there are two
identical strings ... even when I make another copy of the file and
truncate the file so those line numbers no longer exist.

This is decidely weird. :S
