Pootle and Translate Toolkit devs? Gettext is fine with ISO-639-3, so is po4a (doc conversion package). As I said, these codes have been in use at Debian for quite some time now, and I've also seen some at GNOME, so they must work with all the standard traslation editors. They probably do work with Pootle and the Toolkit, because Debian has some levels of its Installer (all languages) up on Pootle. Pootle and the Translate Toolkit aim to support standards, and the iso-codes are certainly basic standards for us. However, as you say, some less-used tools may not support iso-639-4 yet. from Clytie Vietnamese Free Software Translation Team > > 2010/4/17 Clytie Siddall <[email protected]> > i18n programs are increasingly having to move to incorporating ISO-639-3, > because there simply aren't enough two-letter codes for the languages into > which software is being localized. > > Debian, for example, already has a large group of three-letter languages > localized. > > We do need to integrate ISO-639-3 into our internationalization process. > > Clytie > Vietnamese Free Software Translation Team > > On 16/04/2010, at 11:30 PM, Ambrose LI wrote: > > > Looks like there isn't one. > > > > There isn't one in ISO639-2, that the ISO639-2 page ultimately points > > me to either http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php > > which does not have Venetian, or > > http://www.iana.org/assignments/language-subtag-registry which lists > > "vec" as its only code. > > > > On 16 April 2010 09:37, Luke Schierer <[email protected]> wrote: > >> is there a two letter code for that language? > >> > >> Luke > >> > >> On Apr 16, 2010, at 09:34 EDT, Clytie Siddall wrote: > >> > >>> Benvegnùo Stefano :) > >>> > >>> On 13/04/2010, at 11:42 PM, Stefano Varotto wrote: > >>> > >>>> Hi to everyone! > >>>> > >>>> Is anyone already working on translating into the Venetian language, > >>>> code ISO 639-3: vec ?
