Hi, Tom, hadn't noticed this was you..
Read, but only skimmed, with interest, the commnts on Static discharging to
connector pins.  One of the standards I must comply with cites disconnecting
connector and discharging to the unprotected pins!   Believe this may be the
British Industrial Truck Standard.  Or an ANSI/RESNA wheelchair standard.
 Seems unduly harsh, but, hey,
it's employability, and I've never met an ASIC designer I didn't like.  It's
cheaper than
relayout, sometimes.  People forget the robust s/w fixes.
