Dave,

A few years ago, while being employed with another outfit, we faced the =
same dilemma and one of the test engineers came with a simple solution =
that was accepted by BABT: He created a network that dropped the test =
signal by 6 dB (basically, a simple voltage divider) and inserted it =
between the BERT tester and the EUT. It was there for all tests (you may =
wish to switch it out when running any other tests).

Does anyone know of any equipment which can perform Basic Rate receiver =
sensitivity testing other than the Siemens K1403 analyser?

We manufacture BRI cards for the european market and BABT stipulate, as =
part of their PQAA procedure, that all boards produced must be subjected =
to receiver sensitivity testing.

The problem with the K1403 is that it is expensive (it does after all =
fully test Net 3 layer 1 ) and test throughput is slow. At present we =
hire a K1403 when we have a production batch ready to test. We are =
looking at designing our own test equipment but this is not trivial.

We also looked at pursuing the BABT sampling scheme as an alternative to =
being a PQAA site but decided we would rather keep things in house.

I would appreciate any input on this.
