one of our OEM's told me that their EMC lab cost a lot of cash to
set up and to maintain. Their lab had an FCC approval as an authorized
test site. As far as they could see a 0dB pass was a pass. Any
variations site to site was taken into account and built into the
limits. Since they did sample testing of their product they could live
with a 0dB margin. They still are a very high volume manufacturer of
consumer products.
We are in the 6dB camp and like most others are challenged by our
business managers as being too severe.
