I just received the latest Safety & EMC newsletter (Issue 25), which
is published by ERA Technology Ltd, and there is an interesting
article regarding the implementation of EN61000-3-2.

The article states that an amendment A12 has been formally approved
and recommended for publication in the OJ. The amendment changes the
date of withdrawal (dow) of conflicting national standards to 1 June
1998 and add a clause which states: "For products which were not in
the scope of the earlier standard but are now covered in the new
edition, the latest date of application of the new edition is 1 June
     1998".

I read that to mean that EN61000-3-2 is not mandatory for Information
Technology Equipment until 1 June 1998. Is that true? Did I
interpret that correctly? Can anyone else confirm this?

I am sure that everyone would be interested in your response, so
     please copy everyone.

     Best Regards, Mike.
