Reply to: RE>South Africa Your reseller is correct. I was testing some ISDN product in South Africa (Telkom) 4 weeks ago. If you have European test reports that are compliant with I-CTR3/4 or NET3/5 these should be accepted and only functional testing would be carried out. The functional testing take about a day per product. In addition to the functional testing, Telkom will want to carry out testing to ETS300 047 Pt 2 and 3.
If your product is a PC card then you do not need to show EMC and Safety compliance to obtain a type approval. If your product is a Standalone device then you will need to submit EMC and possibly Safety reports to obtain you approval. This has to be carried out by SABS (South African Burea of Standards) Good Luck. Does anyone have more information on this? Keep in mind this comes from is a reseller (sales type): -------------- TELKOM South Africa has changed their approach to ISDN certification (for the better), previously they used to test all ISDN layers locally which took ages and pages of information. New procedure: - If the product has been certified for Euro NET3, we need to submit a copy of the test report, TELKOM will check this report and conduct a functionality and safty test thereafter (no more layer testing). - If the product has not been NET 3 certified, we need to do the complete procedure which could take a couple of month.
