Martin,
Sorry for opening up such a big can of worms for you,
but I hope it leads to business for you.
What do I do?:
PTT and Safety Compliance, mostly. Designing for,
in-house test/verification, and overseeing certification.
What kind of articles would help me?:
Well, I work mostly on digital communications equipment,
so it is mostly:
1) digital telecom testing - T1/E1/E3/T3 ports; jitter,
jitter transfer/attenuation, pulse-mask, framing,
coding, etc.
2) fiber-optic comm. safety (power) testing - EN60825,
CDRH 21CFR1040 (LASER safety, optical power).
3) ITE safety testing - EN60950, IEC950, UL1950, etc.
A lot of it is dielectric strength, insulation/isolation,
some power and thermal measurement. Some surge testing.
4) We also do a lot of EMC testing in my dept., near
field probing, far-field measurement, current clamp,
and all IEC 801 immunity (ESD, surge, EFT, ...).
So anything along these lines. There are occasionally
impedance matching, return loss, insertion loss type of
issues too. That's all I can think of right now.
And thanks again for the info.
Best regards,
Stephen C. Phillips
