(1) What the heck are analog phone sockets ????   There are distinct connecting
arrangements in various countries that have nothing to do with analog or digital
     but with functionality.

(3) For the US, there was a catalogue, published by ATIS, giving the different
plugs
     and jacks used for different purposes, within and outside the context of
Part 68
     of the FCC Rules and Regs.  (That document may have been taken over by TIA
??)

(4) For Canada, the different connection arrangements are described in CS-03.

(5) Benelux is three countries, not one, each having their own regs.

(6) There is an ETSI document that describes all the different analog telephone
interfaces
      in all the member states, including the connecting arrangements, you'll
find BENELUX
      in there as well.  Believe it is known as NET4.

(7) There may be some day that in some new technology we do not know about yet,
      there will be one single connector that "does" for the world.  Keep on
breathing
      while waiting.  There is an installed base out there.
