The WSJ made a rather big deal of it.  They devoted about 3/4 of a page to
it.  It also appeared in the SJ Mercury News and SF Examiner.   Judge Green
nor his successors were mentioned.

Based on what I know about Reidt-Hunt resignation I would have to believe
it's a coincidence.
