Regarding Tom Bao's message about subject matter for the TREG, the
original thought was to limit it to telecom matters, and more
specifically, telecom regulatory. The idea was that so many changes
continue to occur in world-side telecom regulation that it's too
much for one person to follow adequately. So, it would be of mutual
advantage among a group of telecom regulatory engineers to share
what they learn. The fact that this group may work for companies that
compete was resolved by the "informal contract" or TREG guidelines
which specify that all info be from the public domain (although
sometimes obscure or not circulated well).

Well, that was the theory anyway. TREG has suffered to some degree
by its success! Subject matter far exceeds the original scope,
sometimes to our detriment, and sometimes not (I really enjoyed the
BBQ story from Vic, even though it had nothing to do with telecom).

I guess my vote would be to continue to limit TREG's published
scope to telecom, recognizing that sometimes EMC and safety information
is relevant and helpful.
