Speaker:  Mr. James Janosky

The topic of the October 28, 1997 is the Medical Directive.  Mr. James
Janosky will present this topic.   Mr. Janosky is currently manager of
the Intertek Testing Services office in Seattle, WA.  He is
knowledgeable in regulatory and conformity assessment standards world
wide with special emphasis on Information Technology, Laboratory, Test
and Measurement, and Medical equipment.  Mr. Janosky helped form a joint
venture between Intertek Testing Services and Dekra Certification
Services to offer the German GS safety mark in North America and Asia
Pacific.  He holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from MIT.

Topic:  Changes In UL 1950, Third Edition
Speaker: Tom Burke

PRESENTATION:

Mr. Thomas Burke, Underwriters Laboratories Inc., will review recent
developments associated with the Bi-National Standard for Information
Technology Equipment, CSA C22.2 No. 950-95/UL 1950, Third Edition.
Anticipated topics include a review of the Bi-National revision process,
pending revisions based on Amendment 4 to IEC 950, Second Edition,
including U.S./Canadian National Deviations from the IEC requirements,
and the status of the UL 1950 Third Edition Practical Application
Guidelines (PAGs). 

PRESENTER BACKGROUND:

Mr. Burke is the Primary Designated Engineer (PDE) for UL's Information
Technology Equipment product category, and is responsible for the
ongoing maintenance of UL 1950.  He
represents UL on the CSA 950 Technical Subcommittee, NFPA NEC Panel 12,
and the NFPA 75 Committee for Electronic Computer Systems.  Mr. Burke is
a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of California,
and is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
