Topic: Hazard Management Within the Product Design
Speaker: Mr. Charles Hoes

PRESENTATION:
Mr. Charles Hoes, PE, CSP, Hoes Engineering Inc., will discuss the
approach of identifying and controlling hazards associated with a
product design. The presentation will include a discussion of product
safety risk management during the design process. Mr. Hoes will
address the importance of hazard management in meeting the SEMI S2
and European CE Mark standards.
SPEAKER:
Mr. Hoes is a past National President of the SSS, and currently the
Director of Media Relations.

Topic: Video Display Terminals Ergonomics, comparison of the SEMI S8
guideline with European ergonomic standards for machinery
Speaker: Mr. Stefan Braun

PRESENTATION:
The presentation will discuss legal background and history of ergonomics
standards for office equipment focused on Video Display Terminals and the
changes connected with the adoption of European directives as well as future
developments. Special attention will be given to Computer Systems, Monitors
and Software. A second section will discuss the basics of ergonomics for
semiconductor manufacturing equipment and compare the SEMI S8 guideline
with European ergonomic standards for machinery.
SPEAKER:
Mr. Braun, TUV Rheinland has 4 years experience as expert for office
ergonomics.
Since 1997 he is managing the ergonomics projects of TUV Rheinland of North
America.
He is participating in the development of several standards for office
ergonomics as well
as ergonomics for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
