Eric, Last year, I had a similar question. I went back into TREG archives and searched under "record tone." This is available on the net at URL http://www.rcic.com/ The RCIC archives referred me to FCC Form 730, page A3, Registration Code RC (Conversation Recorders). Form 730 says, "RC - Conversation recorders. FCC Order in Docket No. 20940 permits use of beep tones or consent of all parties when conversations are recorded. Bepp tone characteristics: Pulse width: 0.2 sec +/- 20% frequency: 1400 Hz +/- 10% rep rate: 12-15 secs level: average speech (-9dBm averaged over 3 seconds) >From FCC Docket No. 6786, 1/15/46."
