There is some merit in Dave's remarks. However, if my memory serves, a good deal of the postings on this forum are questions from consultants seeking answers. It seems fair that those who draw (free of charge) from the knowledge pool should also contribute (free of charge) to replenish the pool.
All subscribers have the free will to draw only, or to contibute to the overall EMC/safety community's understanding of many "grey" issues. My personal opinion only......... Consultants and companies own what is called intellectual property. It is knowledge or processes gained through the sweat of costly investigations and trial and error. This is a possession with value. All too often I see company information freely given over this net. If this is OK with your company so be it. Consultants have only intellectual property to sell, information which is of value to other people or companies. If they give up too much information on this net what do they have left to sell? My point is no person has any obligation to give up intellectual property without due compensation. We are lucky to have such a forum and we should be thankful for the generous contributions.
