Without getting into the merits of the different positions, you can not, in a specification or standard use "and/or". I personally know the editor and a number of members of the editing committee of IEC 60950, and they would rather die than allow "and/or". If you draw up a truth table, you'll find that "and" and "or" are mutually exclusive so you could never comply with such a requirement. Whatever the errors in the para under dispute, it was never intended to be "and/or". Ciao, Vic
