I am collecting a list of calibration vendors who have undergone a third
party audit to ISO/IEC Guide 25 standard.
Over the past two years laboratory auditors have been tightening the
standards for acceptance of outside calibration vendors. An audit is now
required and it is prefered that it be a third party audit including a
physical visit. The ideal solution from a testing laboratory perspective
would be to have the calibration vendors apply to NVLAP or A2LA for
accreditation, but that is not happening fast enough.
We are left with the inefficient system where each customer must qualify
each vendor independently. Not bad if you can use a questionnaire,
disasterous if you must travel there.
Thus the list. I am compiling a list and collecting evidence that a
third party audit has been successfully completed by any calibration
vendor who wants to be on the list. I expect to share this list with
other testing laboratories who also have ISO/IEC guide 25 calibration
obligations.
