Hello Moshe, this is what you need to ask yourself, and your answer will be
different depending on your market:

Does your power supply output comply with the limits for a TNV circuit? In the
US it would not (it is above 60VDC). Therefor, as anything above 60VDC is a
hazardous voltage you may need a Y1 capacitor.

For Europe, the TNV limits are 120VDC. Therefor, if your power supply is
double insulated, your output may qualify to be TNV in Europe. Then you could
use a Y2 capacitor to isolate your 60VDC (max 72VDC) power supply from low
voltage or ground.

Make sure that you use the correct working voltage capacitor. If your power
supply is not double insulated, you need to use mains voltage as your working
voltage.

Hope this helps. Not sure about your second question.

Subject: FW: Y capacitors on 60VDC supply

Hello everyone,

I need to put capacitors to gnd on the 60VDC nominal (could go up to 74V)
supply inputs of a
box located inside a CO.
I assume, since the 60V is to be isolated from the low voltage and ground, and
since it is a
"mains" input, I need Y capacitors.

My questions:
1. Does these need to be Y1,Y2..or Y4 caps? (i.e. do I need reinforced
insulation?)

2. The caps are needed for suppressing 1000V 1 microusec rise time pulses. On
the other hand,
their data sheet claims just 200V per microsec. Are they worth using?

regards,
Moshe
