Hello Carl,

URL to EN 300 001 v.1.5.1 (Latest version) is ...
http://webapp.etsi.org/publicationstemp/5333.htm (be aware that it is a
large 8.989MB)
It doesn't include any PSTN requirements for Romania though.

I-ETS 300 677 was completed during my chairmanship of ETSI TE4 and the
figures collated in the various tables of requirements were gained from
our liaison with the various national standards committees. My contact
at the time of writing I-ETS 300 677(1994-95) was Mr Petrov, Institutul
Roman de Standardizare. Tel. +40 1 2113296 / Fax. +40 1 2100833.
I have since been successful in getting PSTN modems approved in Romania,
the basic design was a finely tuned TBR21 compliant product with a DAA
software profile configured by myself to capture the requirements of
most of Eastern and Central Europe.

In Egypt I think you'll find (as I have) that you'll not get a clear
answer about the technical parameters of what the test against, only
that they follow ITU-T recommendations (so for acoustics that'll be the
P series). PSTN Interface designs compliant with BS 6305 will generally
meet whatever the Egyptians decide to test on the day. However, if your
distributor is anything like the ones I've dealt with they'll tell you
don't need to gain approval and they are quite prepared to sell without
approaching the Authorities.

I hope this helps you in some way. Let me know if you need more
practical assistance, as this often gets the best results in these
regions!

Dear Tregsters,

Does anybody have any information concerning the technical requirements
for
telephone sets or modems for connection to the analogue PSTN within the
following countries;

    Romania, Nepal and Egypt.

I have been trying to obtain information from the reg bodies for some
time
now, but unfortunately information is not forthcoming. Any info on the
technical requirements or a suitable contact would be much appreciated.

I have noted that Romania has acoustic transmission requirements listed
