Corinne,

In Sweden and I think in most EU Member States this is true. As an example,
Telia in Sweden
install ADSL terminals with their ADSL service and these things are considered
"network
equipment" and therefore they are not subject to type approvals.

This is like it used to be with modems 20 years ago...... Is this called
progress????

Subject: NTU vs TTE

Maybe my question if nonsense but I need to discuss this point with you
all.
In my understanding a network termination unit, which is installed by
the operator and remains property of the operator is NOT considered as
being terminal equipment (as in the TTE and future R&TTE directives).
For example an ISDN NTU which provides to the customer the plug and the
functions to connect phones, PC... is part of the network offer and not
of the terminal installation.

Right or wrong ?

Thanks for your comments.
