Hi Treg World re RJ49 connectors for ISDN. Yes you can get the same Basic Access connector approved for USA as a Basic Access ISDN interface. This is the S/T reference connector and is refered to in FCC pt 68 as 02IS5 port for service order 6.0P.
The biggest issue is that the PTTs will not provide a Basic rate interface with an S / T reference point connection. They will provide a U reference point connection which means that customers must purchase or hire an NT1 Termination adapter to convert the provided interface down to the S reference connection. Youre CTR3 (TBR3) software will need modification. The ISDN software (especially L3) is different to CTR3, you will need to look at Bellcore NI-2 or AT&T 5ES or NT DMS types (depending on carrier) for USA. Hope that this helps: Bill Ellingford Motion Media Technology Ltd, UK ---------- From: [email protected][SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: 03 August 1999 12:29 To: [email protected] Subject: ISDN interface Dear everybody I'm confused about the different use of ISDN connectore in EU and US. Our situation is: we make a Bri ISDN (TRB 3) interface which uses a RJ45 connection we want this interface approved by FCC part 68, BUT will use EU ISDN lay 1-3 But as I can see RJ48 connection is used in the US which differe from RJ45 in the wiring of the modular jack connector. My questions are: is RJ45 used in the US/Canada at all ? can we have a FCC approval of a EU ISDN ? Best regards, Mr. Kim Boll Jensen i-data, Denmark
