I plan to get to a conference on the RTTE in the next few months.
Right now I am critical path for releasing several new products
and taking a week off to go to Dallas or Washington was not
feasible. And I am not complaining. This will all work
out in the end.

Cynthia,

Staying the course may be the best way to deal with approvals in your
case. Having set through any number of versions of the CTE Directive =
and
ultimately having had three sessions in the US (all in the last 10 =
days)
with=20
Mark Bogers on what the R&TTE Directive means, I probably am no longer=20
in a good position to know whether it leaves any questions unanswered. =

There are some implementation issues that are not settled yet, but =
apart
from=20
that, I feel the document is quite clear.

The document is a trade document first and a political compromise =
second. =20
Forget you're an engineer, that is an outdated profession. Industry is =
now
looking for Electro-political scientists with a trade bend. Once you
understand
that, you'll do fine with the R&TTE Directive.=20

You=E1ll had the opportunity to be there with us when it was explained, =
so
don't
complain now. Both your government and your private sector created =
these
opportunities to get to understand where the world is going. Perhaps
you=E1ll
don't like either Washington or Dallas.=20

I didn't want to lay that on anyone before mother's day, but there it =
is.=20

Ciao,

Vic
