Cynthia, Staying the course may be the best way to deal with approvals in your case. Having set through any number of versions of the CTE Directive and ultimately having had three sessions in the US (all in the last 10 days) with Mark Bogers on what the R&TTE Directive means, I probably am no longer in a good position to know whether it leaves any questions unanswered. There are some implementation issues that are not settled yet, but apart from that, I feel the document is quite clear.
The document is a trade document first and a political compromise second. Forget you're an engineer, that is an outdated profession. Industry is now looking for Electro-political scientists with a trade bend. Once you understand that, you'll do fine with the R&TTE Directive. Youáll had the opportunity to be there with us when it was explained, so don't complain now. Both your government and your private sector created these opportunities to get to understand where the world is going. Perhaps youáll don't like either Washington or Dallas. I didn't want to lay that on anyone before mother's day, but there it is. Ciao, Vic
