I use it extensively for AOL IM forwarding.  This allows me to be 
reached via IM at any time without running an IM client on my treo 
(which would eat the batteries).

For short conversations AOL's IM forwarding lets you respond back via 
SMS; if I need to have a longer chat or if I need to initiate a chat 
instead.

And my wife now loves being able to ask me questions via SMS when I 
can't answer the phone, such as during meetings and such.

And even as an SMS user, I can still spell :-)

BTW - are you all aware that the treo has some built in 
auto-substitutions that make it easier to type?  Check out this message 
from last year if you are interested...
