Follow the upgrade procedure in the smaller book/pamphlet or you will
run into problems due to settings incompatibilities between the two

How soon?  I ask because to use your own phone over there, you have two
choices:  Pay through nose for international roaming, or use a pre-paid
SIM you can get in Europe.  But to use the European SIM, you'll need to
get your Cingular branded phone unlocked and Cingular/AT&T generally
does not like to do that until you've been with them for about a year.
If you get a 680 directly from Palm, you'll have no such problem
because those are unlocked anyway.
