There is no way you can keep a call active through a soft reset. Just 
physically (mechanically) impossible. If all she's doing is talking on 
the phone and adding an appt to the calendar, there shouldn't be any 
crash and no 3rd party app is going to make a difference with that. You 
might almost be better running Pimlico's new dbFixit app and check the 
integrity of your calendar and contact databases.

As far as upgrading to a 755 (if Verizon ever gets them), it really 
depends on whether or not you have invested a lot into sd storage since 
the 650 takes standard and the 755 takes mini. Beyond that there is very 
little internal difference between the 700 and the 755 - the major 
differences are all cosmetic.
