To build on the shaving idea:
It was a problem with my 650 -- card on top and sticking out enough
to be a problem. So I took a nail file to it, made it conform to the
shape of the top of the 650. You still can get it out with a thumbnail,
which means you have to be deliberate about it.
And quite by accident I found an excellent holder. It's by NiteIze
and it's available from, of all places, your favorite electronics supply
store (drum roll for facetiousness) -- Lowe's. I was doing a story one
day and my subject was wearing one.
It's got an excellent belt clip that doesn't come apart or off in
the car, and the over-top Velcro'd flap protects the top of the Treo
without enough pressure on the top of the 650 to release the card. (Of
course, it's not a problem with the side-mounted, door-covered card on
the 680, but I still like the holder.) It's elasticized sides hold the
phone securely, but not so securely you can't slip your thumb in and
pull out the Treo).
