I covered most of that in my post i.e. no touchscreen, fewer 3rd party apps, etc. But my understanding is that the BB Pearl is a true advance, not just a different color case or the removal of an antenna. Adding wi-fi and GPS are huge. They're adding some of the things that newer phones have yet Palm can't figure them out. Judas Priest, Palm hasn't even figured out Bluetooth! Every day, 700 owners are posting things about how they'd like to throw their 700s in the river! And 680 owners are frustrated as well. My 650 doesn't have some of their problems, but I still lose all my email every couple months on average.
I said I still prefer Palm over BB. But BB is going the right direction. If Palm and BB were armies, we'd see BB's troops marching in the right direction while Palm's officers are still huddled over their maps. If it weren't for Palm's PR dept. telling us their R&D people are working, we'd have no evidence of it. In other words, if innovation were a crime, Palm's execs couldn't be convicted in a court of law. Everything we surmise about advances at Palm would be thrown out of court as heresay. So if I had to make a recommendation, I'd still say go with Palm--for now-- which is what I did and what I advised the OP in my last paragraph. But BB's moving the right direction while Palm's looking a little sickly. The race between the two is looking like the NL east this last season: the Mets had a big lead, but here comes Philly. -- The smallest minority on earth is the individual.
