I guess this is problem with the treo you have. Normally such should not 
happen. This problem one used to get on landline phones. It was an instrument 
fault. Or maybe the program is somehow set to half duplex. Can you try another 
service on this instrument? also remove the battery once. Did you face this 
problem when you got the phone? if not then format it once.

I'm using the BlueAnt V12 Bluetooth headset. I'm also on AT&T service.

And I hope I didn't confuse anyone with my old radio jargon:
Simplex = only one person talks at a time
Duplex = both of us get to talk (which is the way most telephones work)

So now I've got a couple of things to try: incoming vs outgoing calls, 
and with and without Bluetooth (and if I still have one lying around, 
try a wired headset).
It's likely to be evening before I can put the time into it, but thanks 
for the suggestions.
What's amazing is I -- so far -- seem to be the only user having the 
problem. H-m-m-m-m-mmmm.
