I guess this is problem with the treo you have. Normally such should not happen. This problem one used to get on landline phones. It was an instrument fault. Or maybe the program is somehow set to half duplex. Can you try another service on this instrument? also remove the battery once. Did you face this problem when you got the phone? if not then format it once.
