I bought my Verizon Treo online and was never offered insurance.
Of course they will not allow you to get it after you've signed
up. Very unfair.

I know this isn't much of a consolation, but these guys fixed my
Treo 650
and did a fairly good job.

Subject: [Treo] Centro Alert - Must Read
Well, I have finally had a run-in with Sprint that has my blood
boiling. As you may have read in an earlier post, I accidently
cracked the screen on my Centro. What was I doing? It was in my
pocket, no keys, no change, nothing but my Centro (Which was in a
hard acrylic case and my other phone which is a i530 with a
rubberized coating. Somehow they must have pushed against each
other
and cracked the screen. I took it to Sprint, I was willing to pay
for the repair, only to hear "Oh that phones not repairable,
don't
you have insurance?". Well I don't have insurance, since this was
an
upgrade phone supplied by Sprint and the whole transaction was
conducted online, I was never offered a chance to accept or
decline
insurance. Now in all honesty, I am not sure I would have taken
it,
if they had offered it (The logic, at $5 a month for at least a
year
plus the $50 dedu ctible would pay for most repairs). However if
someone had said, we are offering you insurance and by the way
that
phone is not repairable, I would have scooped it up or at least
thought really hard about it. Bottom line, I do not feel I was
neglegent with the phone and the fact that Sprint/Treo has
designed
this phone to be a throw away and did not even offer the
insurance
really ticks me off. All of that being said, if you own a Centro,
better put insurance on it. Now I am stuck with a phone that does
not work and will go out of my way to convince my 25 some odd
friends
and relatives (and the five lines I lease) to drop thier phone
Service with Sprint as soon as possible.
