Addit/MyTreo/MyPalm/MyCentro is an application that is basically a
viewer to present certain information. The information presented on
any given device is decided by Palm and/or the carrier (Sprint,
Verizon, AT&T, etc.).

The version of Addit that can be downloaded from Palm's site (and is
preinstalled on some devices, including the Z22, LifeDrive, and, I
think, the TX) provides a way to purchase applications from the
device.

The MyPalm application that is available through Palm's MyPalm program
provides a smaller (but more carefully screened) set of applications
that can be purchased.

Some of the MyTreo apps have only User Guide and Support tabs; some
have Bonus software tabs; some have other features.

All of these can be updated wirelessly from the handheld if the
handheld has wireless capabilities. If you have the Addit conduit
installed, they are also updated during HotSync. MyPalm automatically
updates itself every Sunday morning unless you disable it.

There is nothing sinister going on here, although it looks like a lot
of activity if you watch the Addit conduit, for example. Changes to
the product catalog and the viewer software, along with any updates to
the pages available for viewing, are downloaded when you update. Any
changes to content are approved by Palm.

For some period of time, there has been an internal misunderstanding
at Bluefish about how updates are distributed to our servers, so
updates have been more frequent than they should have been (but it was
usually the same update being downloaded over and over). We believe
this has now been corrected.

If you have Central installed, the Addit conduit will also keep it
up-to-date, installing a new version if it is available.

The same viewer technology is used in GetSportz, which is a free app
available at getsportz.com. If you like pro baseball, you should check
out GetSportz's MLB Live feature, which shows the progress of games
nearly real-time (updates every 30 seconds). It shows the names of all
the players superimposed on a field, the position of baserunners, a
scoreboard, and a tally of balls, strikes, and outs. It's really very
cool. GetSportz also provides news, scores, and schedules for most
major sports and can be updated via HotSync (with the Addit conduit)
or wirelessly. GetSportz will be free for the foreseeable future,
although advertising content may be added at some point.
