Your assertion of "an army of loyal followers" is wishful thinking. There is no reason for a PalmOS user to be loyal to Palm for the Pre launch, because there is no migration path; the legacy simulator seems useless for connectivity and synch.
If Palm lived in the real world, they would have not wasted valuable time and resources on idiotic projects like the Foleo and other false (re-)starts. I've been a Palm user since in 1996, including Palm 5000, Palm Vx, Treo 600, 650, and now 680. Between Palm and Microsoft , I now have to abandon the PalmOS. I need Vista 64 for work, so I can no longer synch my work laptop with my Treo680 (on AT&T), which I was very happy with for 2 years now (I can't even get the Bluetooth sync working without OLExxx errors). I can't even figure out anything a Rube Goldberg-like method to sync Calendar and Contacts in a trouble-free manner between some combination of Exchange, Gmail, and my Treo 680. Microsoft pooched the entire Vista platform, giving Vista 64 no marketshare to justify Palm writing updated synch drivers, and now Palm is throwing a hail-Mary pass to Sprint, both of them struggling to survive miserable management failures. With WebOS, Palm has abandoned it's installed base of PalmOS users (legacy simulator being useless for connectivity and synch), hoping to make it up on winning over non-PalmOS. Despite living near the center of a major metropolitan area, I can't get decent Sprint phone or 3G coverage in my home and neighborhood, so it's AT&T or Verizon for me, and Verizon has lousy choice of phones. So I've got to decide NOW between iPhone 3.0 and a Crackberry. I have to change NOW if I am to avoid driving myself crazy by manually copying my calendar and contact entries while waiting for WebOS devices on AT&T or Verizon. I can't imagine that I'm the only one in this boat. The PalmOS met all my needs, and there is now no reason for me to continue on a Palm brand device. So this will probably be my last post on this group, though I've been an infrequent poster over the years. --- In [email protected], "Carl W.
