I work for a company that does Corporate buy back. I see phones from the 4 major carriers, ATT, Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon come across my desk. As the service manager / tech, I am charged with wiping all personal info from the PDA's, testing, verifying non active and they are in working condition. From there they get re-sold in the US or over seas. But I will tell you I get hundreds of phones in a day. On average I test / wipe about 75-125 phones daily. Now when that gets slow, I have a box of devices that fail and I repair those. So I am kept pretty busy. Most of the time I am allowed to keep a few for my self for testing or just for general use. I got a Palm Pre days after they released because the owner wanted me to be familiar with it. After a weeks wroth of use, I went back to my 800w. It's a good device, but I did not like the keyboard. The lack of apps also wasn't fun for me but its acceptable since it's a new device and OS on the market. Most people hate the 800w, I like it. I just think its odd how I got my hands on a Pre before I got a Pro. In fact I am STILL waiting on a Pro to come thru my office. Just a perk of working where I work. So yeah no strategy or schedule or formula for when or why I swap out phones. I just do it when I get something I like, want or am asked to use. That's what makes me a great tech, hand on use. _____________________________________ Sprint Treo 800w Blackberry 8320 PIN 247FA6E9 PDA Repair - Blackberry, Treo, Windows Mobile Motorola 2-Way Radio Service and Technical Consulting http://www.capstonewirelessllc.com/Handsetrepair.htm http://www.twowayshopper.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GMRSDFW http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Treo800w/ http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/TreoPro/ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, August 13, 2009 9:28 AM To: Treo Subject: Re: [Treo] Results of DEVICE poll This is interesting. Let me know if there's a formula for changing the phones so frequently. I'd love to do that too. Only chiming in when necessary. Like me. LOL I didn't respond to the poll because I swap phones monthly. I also carry 2 phones, Sprint for personal and T-Mobile for work. Last week it was a Mogul / Blackberry 8320. Today it's a 800w / Blackberry 8320 Working on swapping out my BB for a BB9000. So by the time I replied I would have probably had something different. _____________________________________ Sprint Treo 800w Blackberry 8320 PIN 247FA6E9 PDA Repair - Blackberry, Treo, Windows Mobile Motorola 2-Way Radio Service and Technical Consulting http://www.capstonewirelessllc.com/Handsetrepair.htm http://www.twowayshopper.com <http://www.twowayshopper.com/> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GMRSDFW http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Treo800w/ http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/TreoPro/ _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Don Ferguson Sent: Thursday, August 13, 2009 8:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Treo] Results of DEVICE poll Interesting! Thanks Craig! Reminds me of a question: How should I interpret that only 66 people responded to the poll, and yet there are 3253 members of the group? What are the other 3187 people doing with your survey request when they get it? Are the other 3187 members not reading? Or don't care? Or what? Do you have a sense of how many active members there are, and, what do the inactive members do with the 0 to 30 emails per day they get from the group? Idle curiosity, I suppose.
