Trade UP? To me this feels like a Pre-light. It's kind of the Pre Centro. Basically the same thing but smaller. The big thing for me would be the smaller screen. As it is, the Pre screen is smaller than the iPhone's and in general (especially as I get older!) I really want something that's easy to see and not something I have to squint at. Smaller screeens with less resolution mean either more squinting, more sliding/scrolling, or both. They keyboard on the outside is a double-edged sword. Nice for accessibilty, but necessitating a smaller screen. Mainly I see this as a supplement to the Pre, a younger brother (or sister?) that will appeal to perhaps a younger demographic? The big risk for Palm is diluting the Pre's brand. There's just one iPhone. There's no iPhone Mini or iPhone Nano like there is/was in iPods. Not all companies can have one type of phone. And this is certainly not the ridiculousness of HTC or Nokia who have so many models (which also are named differently for each carrier) that it's hard to count them, but there's also something to be said for simplicity. I realize this was probably unveiled now to try to restart some buzz about Palm and the Pre, and again, RIGHT before a big Apple event, so maybe also to try to steal some of Apple's thunder (although I don't think they are supposed to be coming out with any new iPhones, just new iPods). Still I think they could have also waited till around Thanksgiving which might have given them a lot more holiday-oriented buzz?
