The problems were hardware problems. I will not go to the Pre until they fix
them. I discussed this with the Mid-Atlantic Sales Manager for Palm and he
didn't argue with me. Palm did call everyone who returned Pres to get a rundown
on their problems. That tells me that there's many people with problems and
they have an interest in fixing them. Also, while in the Sprint store, other
people came in to return theirs. (Yes, it is possible that the Mid-Atlantic
area got a lot with defects that didn't go elsewhere. But after going through 4
Pre's enough is enough).

I spent 4 hours on the phone with Palm, one hour with Sprint Level 2 &
discussed this on a Pre Yahoogroup.

So, for your info, here are the major issues:

--- The radio is insensitive and drops calls in marginal areas (where my 650
didn't). Sprint Level 2 technicians (national) told me it was the most
insensitive of all the phones they sell. This, alone, would stop me from buying
one.
--- The phone sometimes got so hot, it was hard to hold. 1,000 contacts and an
active calendar constantly syncing, perhaps?
---- The phone would hang and require the battery be removed to reboot.
Sometimes the hanging would be in s state of continual ringing with the
touchscreen non-responsive.
