I sent the test and it appeared, and I sent this question and it didn't.
I hope I don't end up duplicating, but here goes:
I fell yesterday and cracked the Treo Pro's case and I'm hoping is
survives until something better comes along. Meanwhile, I continue to
dig into the possibility that Pre or Android will come to GSM. You guys
almost have me convinced that Pre wins over Android. I wish I lived near
one, so I could play with a working model. (Gettysburg-to-Cinci is a
long ride just to look at a phone, but it would also let me meet Craig.
H-m-m-mmmm)
Important apps on my Treo Pro, that the Pre/Android would have to
match, are:
= Inesoft Phone (for the large enough to use while driving speed
dial buttons),
= PocketInformant (for the calendar and for the
calendar/tasks/contacts search facilities),
= Evernote (for a lot of really neat stuff, some of which I haven't
even learned yet.
= Pocket Quicken (for when I'm on the road), and
= MortPlayer (I've been using the TP as an mp3 player to "read a
book called "Disappearance of Childhood."
I live by my calendar (which functions also as a diary) and EverNote,
and really need (previous discourse notwithstanding) to make calls while
I'm driving - hence the need for easily punchable speeddial, because I
really do pull over when I have to do a search for a phone number I
don't often call.
And the other question:
I got Lightning working on Thunderbird, but there seems an
unreliability problem in being able to edit on the PC and on the Treo
without having the previously mentioned major heartburn of "there has
been a change on your server," requiring me to completely
de-link/re-link to Google to reload the Google Calendar/Contacts
databases onto the Treo Pro. Same problem with Outlook, when I used that.
I'd like the calendar/contacts available on the PC for when I'm not in
cell or Internet coverage. There are times when data entry is much
easier from the PC; I have several business cards I picked up yesterday
that I need in the Treo.
My preferred modus operandi is to use the cloud server primarily as
a backup system. (Though I went to Google Contacts this morning and
edited one contact and added another and both times sync worked fine. So
I just can't edit from Lightning at all or Outlook reliably. I can live
with that, I guess.)
But with WebOS/Pre will I be able to edit contacts/calendar on my choice
of desktop or Pre and still get reliable syncs?
Because if that works ...
