That's not correct. Every Sprint store I've been in since the Pre's
launch in June had at least one functioning demo unit.

Wow...sounds you like you got hold of a real fanboi. :-/ It
happens...I'd have asked if there was anyone who worked there who
wasn't as biased you could talk to. ;-)

I'm one of those who require a physical keyboard, so I've not
seriously considered the Hero. I'd wait until the Hero gets updated
to Android 2.x before jumping the gun...that's a big update and it'd
be good to know it works well before being locked into a contract.

Sprint got a bad rap for poor customer service, but they went on a
housecleaning push a year or so ago and it's been much better since.
In fact, IIRC, Sprint won the best customer service award of all
carriers in 2009. Granted, that's like winning the tallest midget
award, but it's something. :-)

Right. When my Pre roams, it's on Verizon's towers. Sometimes I even
get EvDO (3G) when roaming, but it's usually 1xRTT (2.5G).

Any carrier has dropped calls and dead spots; there's no perfect
service. But, I've been rather happy with Sprint. I get good, if not
great coverage, nearly everywhere I go and it's cheap, cheap, cheap.
I've had service with 3 of the big 4 providers, so it's not a totally
vacuous comparison.
