They likely got merged on the Pre. Open up Newman's card, tap the header to show all the profiles and see if there are >1 Google Contacts profile in there. If so, you could detach it.
Or, more simply, just edit Muller's card in Google to not be identical. You may have to detach it on your Pre anyway, so be aware.
