Like you, I only need something like that when I'm traveling once or twice a
year and want to use a laptop.  The Verizon guy said I could simply
subscribe to that feature for the week or two that I need it, and then
cancel it when I'm done traveling.  If it's like other features I've used on
a limited basis like that (email and web access on my son's LG phone), the
fee would be prorated for the actual days you used it.
