Sounds like it's time for option 5) set up a Gmail account that sucks in your POP email and just do everything via Gmail. It works fine...you can still send and receive and reply via your old email address, but your phone will get everything via Gmail (and you can access it all via Gmail, too, which usually gives a much better interface than web-POP).
