Are you sure? I had to uninstall and reinstall all my patches (and Preware and Package Manager) to get things to the point where they no longer said they needed to be updated, but refused to update without my deleting them. Was this arduous operation to get me to the point where when 1.4 comes out I don't have to remove the patches?
