My Treo Pro/WinMob acted the same way and it's frustrating as heck.

After 1.4 updates, I'll retry the patch, but one way or the other,
I really want a landscape keyboard.

One of the PalmOS email clients did this and it was really cool. I
like int better than the intertia scrolling that's nice to watch but
difficult to control.
