George, please don't use Verizon as a source for technical advice!  Sure, 
ideally this is a good rule of thumb.  But if you can't restart in the standard 
way, or doing so doesn't solve a system issue, the next step is to remove the 
battery, wait 10 seconds, then reinsert.  If that doesn't solve it you may need 
to run one of the system utilities like WebOSDoctor to reset everything, or 
bring it into Verizon and let them handle it, but in case these kinds of 
warnings are really meant to cover people who aren't to technically inclined 
and might think that always restarting by pulling the battery is the only or 
best option...
