Pat,

See also the reply I just made to Ed regarding upgrading to a Pre for more
information that may help your decision. (Subject: "Considering Upgrade
>From 700P to Pre Plus - Should I?")

I looked at the Droid and played with it a bit the other day at the Verizon
store. I guess it'd be okay if the Pre didn't exist, but the Pre is better,
more elegant interface, sexier.

> I want to be able to read attachments,

You can view image files, and view Microsoft Office documents and PDF files,
but some critical file types are not yet available on the Pre. Hopefully
the ability to read those will become available with future updates. Two
that I miss not being able to view are Power Point Slide Shows (PPS), and
Windows video (WMV). It seems 95 percent of stuff that people forward via
email are these 2 file types.

> create documents

If you mean Microsoft Office documents, you cannot yet do this on the Pre,
but the software for doing this (Documents To Go) will soon be available for
editing and creating Office documents. You can, however, view them on the
Pre currently.

See my message to Ed that I mentioned at the beginning of this message. To
sync with Outlook on your PC, you need a 3rd party app like Chapura Pocket
Mirror, and it will sync via Wi-fi. I've been using it for a month now and
it works great.

> I want to text and use the Internet.

The Pre is fantastic for both of these uses! The texting and web surfing is
very easy, intuitive, and pleasureable. Highly recommended for these!

Subject: [Treo] Agonizing decision

I have had Palms as long as I have had a cell phone... and now I have to
upgrade... and I can choose a Pre Plus, a Blackberry or a Droid. I use it
for my contacts, email, and of course a phone. I want to be able to read
attachments, create documents and import them easily to my computer, and
sync with Outlook. I want to text and use the Internet. How will I ever
decide what to do???? Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated.
