I'm 52  Here's my take.

The fact that the OS is dead bothers me, because I don't have a plan in place 
to upgrade when there is a true and immediate need to replace the unit.

I'm still trying to find the SmartPhone that's as smart as my 700P with the 
combination of DateBk6, GooSync, Power Hero, TakePhone, ChatterEmail, Call 
Block, KeyCaps, PhoneSwitch, and the 1 hand use form of the Treo.  

OTOH, I could do without the need for Reset (which is used, on average, at 
least 2X per day).

The sad part is that I already have better than 10 hours invested in actual 
testing of phones, and while they are much cooler with better screens than 
mine, they just don't seem to be as efficient.  The experts (sales reps that 
are trained to be the store's key person on the phone in question) can't come 
up with a better answer for my needs than 'look in the apps catalog', yet while 
cool, they don't do the job.

Again, I am an early adopter of technologies that fill a need for me.  My kids 
and their friends were heavy into Facebook, before I tried it and decided it 
was a time waster, yet they  all come to me to find out how to use Google apps 
to their advantage, what programs do I have (or know of) that will do xyz (you 
fill in the blanks as it varies with circumstance).

My gut tells me that within 2 years I will be on Android (but I can't prove 
that at the moment)because the hardware developers keep creating forms that 
don't measure up to the Treo.  (1 hand operation, keys that I can feel so I can 
complete certain functions without looking at the device (Honk if you love 
Jesus, Text while driving if you want to meet him), a hard switch to turn off 
the ringer, removable batteries (of course if my battery could last more than 
20 hours, that wouldn't be necessary), and a touchscreen.

Enough of my rant.  

If any of you know of a calendar program that will allow floating events, I 
might stop acting so curmudgeonly with regard to the Treo.
