I had a warranty replacement and Palm pushed all my apps that I had got from the store be it free or otherwise. I believe it is the backup that supposedly runs daily (another thread) that keeps track of that. The only issue I had was Classic from Motion Apps as they authorize via Pre serial number. After warranty replacement classic reverted to the 7 day free trial after it was automatically restored during the restore. I had to contact Motion Apps support (note they are in Europe so there is time lag/difference) with the purchase id old and new serial numbers for Classic to get out of the trial mode. FWIW,

Good news is if you accidentally lose your apps, Palm still has them. When I was going through some problems and did a back to basics re-activation, we created a new profile and everything disappeared - and was gone forever. Then we figured out the problem (don't use numbers in a contact's name field) and re-activated the phone using the old profile, and all my apps, including ones I'd added and the credit card I used to pay for them, reappeared.
