Ed,

I think this now makes 4 of us on this list with a VZW Pre. Welcome!

> 1. Battery Life

I bought a spare battery when I got the Pre, but I've had to use it only
once in 2 months, and that was on a day I was traveling and it also happened
to be the day we got the webOS 1.4 update and I was playing with video
recording a lot.

> 2. Synchronizing

If PocketMirror over wi-fi isn't working for you for whatever reason, you
might try a different app called CompanionLink (at least I think that's the
name) which syncs to Outlook with a USB cable.

> 3. Keyboard

It is smallish, to be sure, but I eventually got used to it after a couple
days. Also I find I can type more accurately if I use my fingernail instead
of fingertip. I can't do the thumb-style of keyboarding with the Pre though
because I can't seem to balance it well in two hands. My son has no problem
with that method though.

> 4. Have to pay $25 per month for data plan

This isn't unique to the Pre. All smartphones require a data plan (Treos,
Blackberrys, iPhones, etc.)

> I am unable to synchronize my memos.

That's true, the Pre's built-in memos (and tasks) do not sync with anything.
However, there are third-party apps (PocketMirror and CompanionLink to name
two) which have their own (superior) memos and tasks apps, and those do sync
with Outlook on the PC via those apps.

Ok - so I got my new phone. I am pleased with the form factor but have 4
serious issues:

    1. Battery Life - way to short - I had a full battery when I left work
and this morning battery was dead. I did a couple of web queries and
calendar checks and stuff but nothing that should have taxed the battery.
    2. Synchronizing - I am only able to synchronize to google calendar and
contacts; my company has Exchange locked down with RSA and my Pre cannot
handle that and when I tried PocketMirror I could not find a WiFi which
probably means that is locked down, also. My laptop finds it no problem
(when not on the LAN). This is the biggest issue for me because it is such a
hassle and so majorly different. I did put in place the google calendar sync
so my Outlook calendar synchronizes with google calendar but it doesn't seem
to refresh very fast in Outlook.
    3. Keyboard sucks to be blunt
    4. Have to pay $25 per month for data plan - that I never had before

I am still in the 30 day grace period - only had it about a week. I love the
smaller size but #2 above really scares me in that I can't afford my
calendar and contacts to be out of date. And it appears I am unable to
synchronize my memos. I got Verizon to do an initial transfer of my
contacts. I made a change last night to google contacts and when I looked
this morning that new contact is not on my phone. I found the default was
Outlook so I changed the default to google and did a sync. Still don't have
the contact. This part is really scary and I need to figure out a way to
resolve. I suppose I could try Pocketmirror at home but it will mean every
night logging my laptop in to work and then synchronizing - quite a hassle
as I do not always connect my laptop when I am home. Does anyone else have
this kind of problem?

Phone says contacts are sorted by last name but because they are not
presented as "last name, first name" it is difficult to validate this.
