I, too, have a Sprint Pre. Had a couple problems early on with syncing
Google contacts and calendar, but now they're working fine. I do not
sync Google with my desktop. I've had problems syncing Goggle to both
desk and my Treo Pro, so I gave up on that - but from my desk I can use
my browser and the Internet. If you can't, that's a problem.

My first battery was luck to make it through the day, So I bought a
Seidio battery extended battery. That helped a lot. Then the 1.4 update
helped some more, so now I can pretty safely rely on not requiring a
charger from morning to the following day's night - about 36 hours. I
have email check every 15 minutes, Google is virtually instantaneous
update both calendar and contacts, and I have NewsFeed from Hobbyist
working. Beyond that, quite a bit of voice calling.

I have wifi at home and at work, so that helps the battery life. My wife
wants to go away this weekend where we won't have wifi, so I'll see
whether there's a marked diff.
Of course, I could just turn it off for a day ...

The keyboard takes some serious getting used to, but Cra1g was right --
it can be done. I got the virtual keyboard, which does an OK job in
landscape, making it useful for email. In portrait, the hardware
keyboard is way better.
