I have already determined there is nothign stopping me from taking my ebooks from one device to another without restrictions. I took them from my Treo to my Pre and could have had them running on both without issue.
This is the part of ebooks (and e other things) that really bothers/scares me - that we will be restricted one day in what we can do with what we buy. Providers want us to view this as "borrowed" and not "owned". I can see the day when providers put a deadline that kills the product regardless of whether you have read it, or want to read it 100 times. I have some books (Lord of the Rings, for example) that has been read by everyone in my house over the course of 15 years. And has been borrowed by my brother, also. It's still pretty much in a beta stage, but many of the books you purchase on B&N have a nice "share" button, which means you can loan your ebooks to other people to read on their computers, Pre's, iPhones, Droids, or wherever. That being said - I'm willing to loan the few I've already purchased that are shareable if anyone's interested and willing to loan back!
